Copyright Statement

The Wilmington Historical Society Digital Library welcomes information about copyright and related matters pertaining to materials in the collections. If you are the copyright holder or the authorized representative of the copyright holder for a work in this collection, and you believe your copyright may have been infringed and would like the Wilmington Historical Society to remove the work, please send a message to the WHS staff through the contact page https://wilmingtonhistory.omeka.net/contact

 In your message, please include:

  • Bibliographic details, including title, author, date and publisher.
  • A link to the work on our website.
  • A statement about why you believe the work is still protected by copyright and why its use is not authorized by the copyright owner or agent; and
  • Written documentation, such as evidence of copyright and renewal registrations, establishing your claim to copyright.

Upon receipt of a take-down request, the WHS staff will:

  • Acknowledge receipt of the request
  • Begin an assessment of the validity of the request
  • Make a determination of the validity of the request, resulting in: 
    • Removal of the online content;
    • Restriction of access to the online content;
    • Continued public access to the online material;
  • Communicate that action to the requestor

WHS staff may suspend access to contested digital content immediately upon receipt of a take-down request depending upon the nature and urgency of the request.
